We took the 8:00AM National Express bus to Bath, 3-hours away - and almost missed the bus! Cilly and I had to run like heck, Amazing Race-style, because it turned out that Victoria Coach Station was not the same as Victoria Station but was in fact three blocks away. We made it with seconds to spare... On the bus, I started re-reading Pride & Prejudice, which was the book that started it all for me. Also passed by some gorgeous English countryside with lovely rolling hills and farmland. It was so pretty!

It was a nice cool day in Bath, slightly overcast but really nice. Bath was exactly what I expected it to be. Inside the old city, a pedestrian's paradise with gorgeous old buildings lining every street. We first headed to the Roman Baths Museum and took their audio tour. The children's version that I listened to was a lot more entertaining. Best part was they gave me a student rate cuz I flashed my (expired) UBC card. After a lunch of a traditional Cornish pastie, we took the 2-hour Mayor's Walking Tour, which was fantastic and free! The guide had a really dry sense of humour and was kind of funny, and showed us history, architecture (lots of buildings by John Wood), and Austen. This was the best thing I did all day, and would definitely recommend it if you go to Bath! After that I headed over to the Jane Austen Centre, which is a really small place. Saw some of her former residences while she lived in Bath and bought a postcard. After P&P, Persuasion, which is partially set in Bath is my favourite Austen book. At 6:30PM we took the bus back - made sure we had plenty of time this time - and now back at the hostel.

Cilly and I had to run like heck, Amazing Race-style...
