My journey to Ecuador began on October 6, 2006 at around 9am from the O´hare Airport in Chicago. I flew on a Delta plane which was a very good decision on my part. The past two times I traveled abroad, I took American Airlines, but I had so many problems with them. Their planes were late, causing me to miss my connecting flight one time, and the other time I didn´t get my luggage for a few days.

Delta was the complete opposite. The plane left on time, so I was able to catch my connecting flight in Atlanta (to Quito) with no problems. The dinner on the Delta food was also the best airplane food I have ever had. They served cheese ravioli and some pretty good sides. For a snack I had some Sun Chips which is a lot better than the small bag of pretzels they often serve on airplanes.

I arrived to Quito on time, and I got my luggage right away. Bogar was waiting for me in the airport after I got my luggage. We looked around for our transportation provided by the Spanish school. I didn´t even realize the sign that they had up for me, that thankfully Bogar pointed out to me. It said ¨Megan¨ and had some unfamiliar business name on it. The man took us in his van to Bogar´s apartment with no problems.

When we got to Bogar´s apartment, Evelyn and her brother came over and Bogar´s brother and sister were there also. Bogar presented me with a spanish alfredo lasanya that Bogar´s neighbor cooked for me.It was very good:)

Today is Oct. 7th, and I did some errands to prepare for my trip. Bogar and I went into the historic area to buy me a cell phone which will be beneficial for when I need  to get ahold of Bogar or other people. We looked in a lot of places for cell phones, and I was amazed at how many stores there were that primarly sold cell phones. I ended up buying a basic phone for $33 that provided me for no extra charge, a card worth $3 of minutes for my phone.

After that, we took a bus to the mall. I went to the grocery store to get a bunch of groceries which included empenadas, soup, mangos, bananas, apples, fish, cheese..ect. While we were waiting for the bus back to Bogar´s apartment we saw a person dressed up as a KFC (yes, Kentucky Fried Chicken) chicken in a car waving at us, that the Ecuadorians refer to as ¨chicky.¨ It was one of the cutest things I have ever seen!

Bye chicky! See you again soon!

Bogar made us spaghetti for dinner. It was a little over done, but that was fine because I was so hungry. Bogar, Evelyn, and I watched ¨Amelie¨ which is originally a French movie, but this movie we were watching was in Spanish. I didn´t know what the movie was about because I couldn´t understand the Spanish. I can´t wait until I am fluent in Spanish so I can find enjoyment in watching movies in Spanish.
