Wow what a wonderful experience.  Now I know why people fall in love with Southern California.  Certainly not like the flat country of FL.  Traveling from Las Vegas, we had a stopover in Hesperia, CA.  The traffic going into the San Diego area was a little disconcerting.  Like lots of it.

Based at Escondido RV resort, the accommodations were spectacular.  Pristine and plush with foliage.  The pictures don't do it justice.

Traveled to La Jolla (pronounced La Hoya) and loved the beach but it was too cold for us to swim but not for the natives.   It must be our old thin blood. Beaches don't compare with what we have at home.  It was nice to view the mountains/hills surrounding the beach areas.  Shopping and dinner at a Hard Rock Cafe.  Hey, we be cool.

Next day to San Diego to Balboa Park to hike through the many museums.  The museums were spectacular.  We wished we had more time (and energy) to see all of them.  Hall of Champions (Sports), San Diego museum of Art, Automotive Museum, and Aeronautical and Aerospace Museum, just to name a few.  Every museum had an entry fee - I used the "retired on a fixed income" slogan and they rolled their eyes and sighed, and demanded the entry fee.

Beach at La Jolla. Check out the waves.

Sadly left Southern California but not before we gassed up this morning for a whopping $4.15 per gallon for unleaded regular.  I may have to pass the collection plate soon to get home or I may be home - less.   Still love our new rig and so happy with it.

Well, Well! Here you guys go and retire and suddenly the conservative and frugal Youtzes have become wild and impulsive RVers. The new rig is awesome!!! Sorry we've been a little out of touch but Linda and I have had the busiest 3 weeks of our lives. Caley has officially graduated, the kids are off for the summer, and of course linda and I are wishing we were with you guys (ahem- minus the kinders). Love You Guys (or is it Amigos now?)

Again, great pics. San Diego area still looks beautiful, it's just all those people! I guess you didn't get to the zoo there, one of the best. You both sure look relaxed and enjoying the trip. The rig looks great.
