Twelve hours in Nairobi

Arrived on the flight from Amsterdam at around 8:00pm local time (GMT+3) and was collectede without problems and taken to my hotel.  Had a quick meal and chatted to a Dutch lady who has been in Africa for three months.  Got some useful contacts and recommendations - a good start!

Went to bed to the sound of premiership football commentary from a nearby bar - welcometo Africa!

Slept brilliantly after a brief fight with a mosquito net (I think I won but it wasn't really a clean fight) and got up at 6:00 as I had a bus to catch!

Met a (very small) cockroach in the bathroom but was a very brave girl and I think the sight of me firth thing in the morning scared it off as it didn't hang around!

After a quick breakfast I was driven to the shuttle bus to catch the shuttle to Arusha......

Impressions of Narobi - people were very friendly and it didn't seem as scary as I imagined (perhaps I imagined the worst, and in twelve hours, eight of those sleeping) I suppose I didn't get the opportuntiy to be in any scary situations!

Driving out of Nairobi I watched the world go by (on its was to work and school generally) as did the as yet unidentified brids of prey and storks from the air! Took great delight in seeing swifts circling overhead and wondered if they had spent the summer in England!
