New Years Celebration and seeing some old favorites in Philly
From Home for the holidays in Philadelphia, United States on Dec 30 '08
After traveling to the Bronx and upstate New York, we headed to Philly for a few days. The weather was cold, so we bundled up and took the train from the Philly suburbs to 30th Street Station. A brisk walk to the Art Museum for some Rocky type exploits up the stairs. I couldn't convince Dan to run up them, or to pose Rocky style, but we saw some other people doing just that, so it was good enough.
After getting covered in snow, we continued walking down the Ben Franklin Parkway and escaped to McGillians, one of the oldest pubs in Philly. This is a must around the holidays, as it is near Macy's (known for Christmas Light Shows) and is a festive and warm atmosphere. We had some beers, some grub and headed to check into our hotel, the Latham Hotel. Friends were due to come over a little bit later, so we took a nap and then headed to the bar at the Warwick Hotel for some cocktails.
Happy New Year!
