Matt and I left early Friday morning, the day after Valentine's Day, to travel 3 hours (or more) to Eureka Springs, AR. It was cold, wet winter day, but since it was our honeymoon, we didn't really mind. :-) Neither one of us had been to Eureka Springs but had heard so many good things about it, we were excited about seeing the quaint town.

We stayed at the Cresent Hotel. It was rustic and old, historic and "haunted." After we moved away from our first noisy room, we ended up in a penthouse and it was very private and the view was outstanding. The dining room in the hotel was excellent--and the wine selection was impeccable. I tried a new "white" merlot and we were impressed by the knowledgeable hotel manager who shared with us many things about their wines and food.  We enjoyed a very romantic, if cold, horse drawn carriage ride the first night we were there (the other days it was pouring rain so a carriage ride would have been impossible). We walked the streets into art galleries and curio shops, dined at the Pied Piper Pub, Henri's, Rogue's Tavern and the Cresent's sister hotel. We also attended the annual Chocolate Lover's Festival, which was a neat idea, but definitely needed more chocolate. It was more "vendor" oriented for selling things other than chocolate. However, we still had a good time and was fitting for our Valentine's honeymoon.
