The London Sunburn and How To Get It
From Houdiniville On the Road in London, United Kingdom on Jul 12 '06
To a few of you this is our second email. (I told you we'd be back) We walked down the street and found this Morrocan internet cafe where I could use my own machine. Now we know what to look for.
Okay, here we go. We arrived the morning of the 13th (we're 7 hours ahead of central time) and had an epic journey from the airport. NOTE: Do Not Fly Into Gatwick. Even though it took us 1-1/2 hours to get to our hotel the room wasn't ready so we had to walk around. Finally, after a sleepless night on the plane the two zombies got a nap and then stumbled out for dinner. Day one. Day two: the Tower of London. This is where the sunburn comes in. Beautiful day, up to low 80's in the afternoon with a nice breeze. When we weren't inside climbing tower steps and wandering through displays of massive medieval armour (Henry VIII was a BIG guy) and the Crown Jewels (REB liked these even though we stood on a moving sidewalk to view), we were outside as the picutures show. Put on at least 5 miles and the calves are pretty sore today.
two zombies
Tonight the theatre (Judi Densch in "Hayfever" at the Haymarket, so close to home (off Bayswater Road) today. Perhaps Kew Gardens as it's another gorgeous day. Cannot believe our luck with the weather. Now we must find some sunblock or convince REB to buy a hat. Place your bets. Speaking of bets: guess whose luggage got the HEAVY: FIND SOMEONE TO HEP LIFT tag?
PS Can't get the photos to upload, will have to work that out later
