We arrived in Vegas on Monday, June 26th in the evening.  Our friend Rob was already in town and our friend Pierce was coming into town on Wednesday to hang out (with me mainly while Lars & Rob played poker).  Rob was able to sign up for the World Series of Poker (no limit) tournament that started on Tuesday; however, because Lars and I arrived late Lars was unable to get into the same tournament unless he was an alternate.  So, Lars signed up for a different tournament (pot limit) that started on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, we went over to the Rio to watch Rob play.  It really is such an experience.  The World Series of Poker is amazing - all you hear are the chips clinking together (kind of like birds chirping!).  When we arrived the entire room was filled.  Rob and approx. 2700 other people (including the pros) were all attempting to be 1of 9 people who would play in a final table on Thursday (and of course to win).  Rob played really well, finishing in the top 20%.  Unfortunately, he was shy of the top 10% that received money.

The next day Pierce arrived and he hung out with me while Rob played more poker and Lars entered his tournament.  Pierce showed up with a broken foot and a wrist in a brace.  He had recently totaled his motorcycle and luckily walked away.  We went over to meet up with Lars (who was on a dinner break from the tournament) and Rob at the Rio.  Murray also made a brief appearance to play some poker - unfortunately we barely saw him.  But we hear he had fun....

Lars, like Rob, also played very well.  His tournament had over 1100 people who entered.  Lars ended up finishing only 15 spots shy of the top 99 players that would receive money.  Basically, he was close but no cigar.... I guess that is poker!  I would bet that Rob & Lars will be playing in the World Series again.  I was able to talk Lars into 2 shows while we were there and a visit to the pool, so we did relax too.

On Friday, Lars and I drove to Zion National Park and Rob & Pierce both headed home.  Good times!!!!!!
