Spent the day making the most of the hotel's facilities. Which in practice means the outdoor swiming pool, followed by breakfast in the dining room, followed by the indoor swimming pool etc. You get the idea. Took a trip into South Yarmouth to do some shopping, and although I was trying to steer Midge towards Shaw's, our favourite upmarket supermarket after Albertsons, so that I could buy a nice birthday cake for her birthday tomorrow, we ended up in some American equivalent of Liddle's, which didn't have quite the same quality of baker. Oh well, got a cake that looked the part. Will try out the proving/eating thing tomorrow (or is that for puddings?). Driving down Route 28 from South Yarmouth to Hyannis, couldn't help but be impressed by the number and quality of mini-golf courses in the area ! Will was almost speechless in the backseat. Hoping that we can persuade Midge that 'Smugglers Cove' Mini-Golf is REALLY where she'd like to spend the afternoon of her special day, the day where she gets to make all the choices. It has a real pirate ship, caves, waterfalls, the lot. Mind you, further down the road toward Hyannis, Animal World Mini-Golf looked almost as exciting. I can see what's kept the Kennedys in the area for so long.
