My new home is a 2 bed/2 bath condo in the Florida everglades. And I'm not kidding when I say this. Its about 20 minutes south of Naples although its still considered Naples. I have a large pond in my backyard. Folks here call it a lake but when you live in Ohio with lakes like Michigan and Erie... this ain't no lake! There are real live alligators in there. A little guy, a medium guy, and a big guy. I've seen them fighting! Like Discovery Channel in my backyard. Over at the pool (which is fenced in) there is a much larger lake which flows out in a canal and out into the gulf. This is where the seriously big guys swim by while I'm laying out at the pool. I've gone on several walks where you have to watch out for bodies of water because there's probably a gator or two sunning themselves. It's something an Ohio gal like me is never going to get used to - let alone be comfortable with. I remember being a kid and seeing on the news that some lady in Florida found a gator in her pool. Well you can bet your behind that when I jump in the pool I check first. Especially at night! My new roommate works on the same nearby island where I work. We get along well although we have different schedules and a lot of different things going on so we don't hang out too much. She has a dog named Koda who after many trials and tribulations finally gets along with my cat Soco, (most of the time).
