We've decided that Canada is a little too expensive for us. But before we go, there's just one more thing we have to see.

Niagara Falls.

We expected a big waterfall. We got a big waterfall that should be one of the natural wonders of the world. It's amazing to say the least. It's really loud! We were lucky enough to see it from the Canadian side, which is the better view and you get right up on the falls. We were literally above the water just before it fell. We spent about an hour there and headed back across the border. No problems either way at customs, although we didn't have any proof of U.S. citizenship (I mean, really, do people carry their birth certificates around with them everywhere they go?). Once we were back on American soil, we passed through Buffalo, NY, western Pennsylvania and stayed in Cleveland, OH. We also saw some Amish folks at the local WalMart. Here are our pictures! (Sorry, none of the Amish.)

Heading to West Virginia, are you? I would be remiss if I failed to coach you. 1. Don't mock the accent. When they say "deesh," they mean dish. When they say "boosh" they mean bush. "Howr'ewe" is a greeting. Just smile and nod as if you understand. 2. Don't confuse Monongahela (the river) with Monongalia (the county). They take it personal-like. 3. If you don't know at least 4 verses to "Mountain Dew," they evict you from the state. 5. If you make it to Morgantown (birthplace of the late Don Knotts and Ish Kabibble of the Spike Jones band), remember that the WVU team is the Mountaineers. Do not accidentally say Mousketeers. Them's fightin' words. 6. Make time for some squirrel hunting. Everybody else does. 7. If you only remember one thing: NEVER confuse West Virginia with that other state. This is West BY GOD Virginia. ("Nobody puts West Virginia in the corner.") Now, to show that I really love WV and remember great years spent there, I'll prove that I still know the state song: O the West Virginia hills, how majestic and how grand / With their summits bathed in glory like the Prince Emanuel's land / Is it any wonder then that my heart with rapture thrills / When I think about my loved ones in the West Virginia Hills. / O the hills, the beautiful hills / How I love the West Virginia hills / And no matter where I roam I will think about my home / And my friends among the West Virgnia hills. Enjoy this beautiful state! xoxo Mom

Did you do anything in Cleveland, OH?

Somewhat more impressive than Turner Falls, I take it. Water of any kind would be a welcome sight around here! And what's up with the Amish at Wal-Mart? Isn't that against their religion or something? Is there a buggy-parking zone? Was it anything like Wal-Mart in Oklahoma? (Now, THAT's entertainment!) xo Moi (still en mode de la francais)
