Heading for the mountains
From Our Journey through Europe in Ighisu Nou, Romania on Aug 06 '08
A few final things before we go. We managed to look around the inside of the church yesterday (the photos are in yesterday’s blog) and climbed the rickety stairs to the top. The wooden floors need some repairs, which made us both rather nervous as neither of us are keen on heights. We also delivered photographs to the two old ladies who were delighted and almost in tears. Perhaps they tell us a poignant story but of course we can’t understand a word of the very long conversation. We hacked up the hill to deliver the photo of the young shepherd who was as pleased as punch as he wants it for his internet page?! It is a beautiful walk across the ridge overlooking the village. The murals are much appreciated, so a big thank-you to everyone of contributed materials for us to do it. THANK YOU.
The HIV department of the local hospital for infectious diseases at Tigres Mures has asked Lovelight Romania for help renovating the bathrooms and Jo is desperately trying to raise the cash for the materials. The charity does a lot of work with the hospital and have people who will undertake the work as soon as the funds are in place. So if anyone could make a small contribution it would be hugely welcome. Details for donations are on the website, www.lovelightromania.com
