On my way back from Den Haag I stopped by Leiden for a few hours just to check out the place, no more museums I vow, slightly sick of them at the moment. Leidan is much prettier than The Hague, it's more like a little town. And as I walk alond the canal I spy my first windmill! And you can go in it as it's a museum (but I don't of couirse, I got to stcik to my vow.) I walk around for 2 hours just taking in the atmosphere of the place. They have load of market stalls by the canal, selling everything from clothes to food and other bits and bobs. There's a square (of course) surrounded by some beautiful bildings. That'S what' really nice about some small towns and cities, that they' kept alot of the original architecture, well at least I hope its original, unilike in Brussels where some of it was reconstruced.

There are poems by famous poets on the wall, lucikly they re in English so I can read them :) and there are lots of banners up with famous people quoting things but as it's in Dutch I don't know what it says.
I saw my first windmill!
Can't really write more about Leidan other than it' a really pretty small town. And its a good place if you have a few spare hours and is worth passing through. They do have museums etc and you can visit Rembrandts house but I really didn' fancy that, but I would recommend jumping off the train if you're passing through.
