Amsterdam is a fantastic city and this time we stayed in the absolutely perfect house.  It was situated just a few paces from the Neumarket on a quite back street.  There was one room on each of its four floors although they were conected by some very steep and rickety Dutch staircases!  It was a stunning place and had been beautifully decorated by Gustavo and Gerry in a modern European style.

To celebrate the beginning of our trip we dined in style at restaurant De Kas.  A converted plant nursery, we drank champagne on the terrace overlooking the herb gardens and then sampled a fantstic 4 course meal made with organic produce from the nursery and their farm.  Probably one of the best restaurants we have ever been to - what a fantastic start to the trip.
