We didn't quite kiss the ground after setting foot ashore, but it was a relief to finish this long sea journey! However as we had been delayed at sea it meant that we arrived just before midnight. The crew of the Navimag, having realised just what time we would arrive, had been helping people to arrange accommodation. We had given them a few suggestions for our group from our travel guides, but it seemed that they had a different idea for us all.

So as we left the boat and managed to hail 2 taxi's for the 6 of us we quickly realised that this wouldn't be a plush hostel. Instead we arrived in the local "red light" district and were shown our rooms in a rather run down hostel. Oh well it was late, we were all shattered and we just wanted to sleep.

Sure enough the next day we agreed we had all slept well and that the area in the light of day didn't look so bad.....time to investigate!

For all of us, apart from Kate, we were hoping to move on from Puerto Montt that same day. Kevin, Matt and Thea were all heading back over the boarder to Argentina and Bariloche, Callum and I were heading towards the island of Chiloe. So our first port of call was the bus station to get everyone sorted. Luckily we had time for our last group lunch before we all headed our separate ways so we looked in the guide and found a recommendation for a German Cake Shop, yes!! The cafe was nice and we all ordered sandwiches for starters, promising to leave space for a slice of one of the delicious cakes that were looking at us. Funnily though, once we had finished our sandwiches it was only the lads that felt they could fit in a slice of cake! That's not how it goes! They were good cakes though.

OK time for one silly photo!

In no time at all we were back at the bus station and saying our goodbyes, it was really sad as we had spent such a lovely few days together on the Navimag, hopefully some of our paths may cross again, but for now we were off to Chiloe......
