We sailed west to Bonaire (part of the Dutch Antilles islands known as the ABC's)....stopping at 3 islands.
Five nautical miles off the coast of Venezuela a pod of some 20 dolphins joined us briefly for a play. That set the mood for a good journey.
Conditions were reasonably pleasant and we covered 150 nautical miles to reach Isla de Rogues, a pleasant national park with azure waters and plenty of reef to negotiate before anchoring for sunset drinks.
Second anchorage, Cayo de Agua, was in a beautiful little bay another 30nm on. We seemed to walk forever along the white sand beach looking for nesting terns. We found 3 mums guarding their one precious egg each. They nest in the open grass near the water's edge. Sorry no pic of terns as we swam and kayaked to shore. This beach had a lot of black coral washed ashore.

Another 30nm and our third anchorage, Aves de Barlovento, was a treat as we anchored near some Venezuelan fishing boats and scored some fresh fish from these friendly industrious men....we have given up trying to catch fish ourselves. The mangroves here are covered with thousands of nesting booby birds. We were able to dingy into the mangroves and get a good "bird's eye" view of their "digs".
Next day 50nm of calm conditions and another pod of dolphins later we arrived safely back to civilisation...Bonaire.
