Made the drive from Greensboro to Myrtle Beach, SC today (165 miles). It was on and off rain day including one huge downpour. We checked into a great RV park on Kings Highway and found the weather just partially cloudy and warm.

Drove around to get the lay of the land and also to locate the place we stayed when here 18 years ago. We did locate it and found it hadn’t changed that much. This place has grown by leaps and bounds – tons of restaurants, hotels, and theaters. There are so many golf courses it’s confusing. We wandered around Martins Golf Superstore which has been a fixture here for many years. The new facility is huge – we’ve never seen such a huge golf store. We attended a birthday bash at the RV park tonight where we had cake and ice cream and danced. Met several couples and had a great time.

Today we hit the local flea market but it was kind of a bust. Mike hit Camping World and did some work on the motor home.

Monday we played golf at Possum Trot. We met another couple from Ontario and really enjoyed their company for the day. After golf we headed to a Mexican restaurant they recommended and had a wonderful dinner. We then attended the Christmas Show at the Alabama Theater here in Myrtle Beach. The theater is impressive and contains lots of Alabama (the country group) memorabilia including their gold and platinum records. The show was truly enjoyable and beautifully done.

Tuesday the temperature dropped below freezing and it was COLD and windy. We stayed indoors except for a brief trip to the market. I nearly froze walking from the car to the store. Brrrrrr.

Wednesday we had a tee time but decided it was too chilly for golf. We took a drive north to Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina – just over the border. It was lovely and we crosses the Intercoastal Waterway which runs down the entire East Coast. We stopped in Calabash for lunch at a wonderful restaurant where I enjoyed some deviled crab (one of my childhood favorites). After driving back to Myrtle Beach I convinced Mike to go with me to see Quantum of Solace – the new James Bond movie and we both enjoyed it.

Sounds like you had a great time...The theatre is great, isn't it? http://blog.reserve123.com/2009/01/a-musical-cornucopia-in-myrtle-beach/
