We arrived in Prague, traded in our Euro for Czech Crowns, and jumped the tram to our hostel. To ride the tram system you get small tickets that you stamp in a machine once you board. Evidently its 50 bucks, paid on the spot, if you get caught riding without a ticket. We had to take our chances a few times....for the craic.
The Boathouse hostel was about 20 minutes from the city center. Great place. Right on the river. It was run by Vera a very nice Czech gal that even did our laundry! We shared a room with two boys from the flemish area in Northern Belgium. Right on the Dutch border. They were too funny! We´re convinced they were stoned the whole time. Always grinning or napping.
I will remember prague for all the running we did!
The first night we wandered around the city. It is quite a beautiful city! Elaborate architecture. It is crowded too, lots of people everywhere. We stumbled on two restaurants for dinner that were side by side. One was booked so we made reservations there for the next night and ate at the other. More beer, pork and sauerkraut! After dinner we walked along the river and took in the magnificent views of the city. We started for home and tried to find the tram. After walking for a really long time Dave spotted a sign and figured out that tram wasn´t running because of construction and we needed to walk for a really long time again. Finally we saw the tram coming from around the corner....so we ran after it! But didn´t catch it. So we continued walking (and laughing) for a really long time, and finally hopped on at the next stop.

The next day we took a walking tour of the city. Our tour guide, Petra was a very knowledgable czech gal that spoke excellent English. She was very serious about being a guide. She walked with perfect posture wearing a red shirt and carry a red umbrella so we could find her at all times. Very serious..... but an excellent tour!
The last day we headed back into the city and found an Irish pub, O´Che´s, to watch the the Man Utd game. After we rented paddle boats on the river to enjoy the rest of the beautiful day. We hung out in the city all evening until we started to hear thunder and soon after spotted lightening. We jumped on the tram hoping to beat the storm back to the hostel. About 3 stops away the sky opened up.....and the hostel was about a 10 minute walk from the tram. We ran for shelter and waited it out until the storm past. Once it slowed we took off running down the street (we knew the storm wasn´t over as the thunder was getting louder again). We made it back just as it started again. Needless to say I will remember prague for all the running we did! For tram and from the rain. That red umbrella would have come in handy.....Eh, Eh, Eh, Eh.
