The Hearst Castle was built because W.R. Hearst said he was too old to "camp" any more on his land.  Plus he had 4 sons that wanted to swim when they ventured to San Simeon.  Patty Hearst went there to visit her grandfather along with all her cousins.  What an ostentatious place !!!!!!!  Just goes to show what happens when you have more money than you know what to do with it.

We have no pictures because we both thought the other had the camera.  Both cameras were in the car......GADS !!!!!!

Tons of fun in the sun.
What a lazy afternoon. Not this afternoon, I have a headache.

Leaving the castle we headed on up the coast for about 5 miles and started seeing what we thought were large logs on the shore.  As we got closer we noticed the logs were moving.  We pulled off the road and below us were hundreds of elephants seal trying to prove who was "bigger and stronger" so that they could mate with these tiny female seals.  Talk about having "tons of fun"..................

Thanks so much for sending me updates! You'll notice I sign in as Boss Lady. You're the only person I would ever let call me that. Can I still send you emails too? I'm so sorry we didn't get together again before you left. Life sure was hectic for both of us. I hope you're having a blast! I am really trying to figure out how to come see you next year. If the invite is still extended! Miss you, p
