Hello Everyone

How was your Father's Day?  Family was a big discussion around the table on Sunday. Many are greatly missed.

Everyone slept in

We are definately on the downward slide of the trip and all look forward to seeing everyone again.

The prince required his Doctor 10 times a day - so the prince built him steps. The doctor inscribed the Prince's illnesses in them.

Sunday was a relaxing day. EVERYONE slept in. Then we did laundry and played soccer. It was quite eventful - not the laundry but the soccer. Arafel has a hurt knee and Katie's shin is bruised but they are troopers. After dinner on Sunday, we walked uuupp - some would say hiked up - to the city center. We had a night tour with Juli. She was very nice and showed us the city of Marburg. I liked it!  The story of St. Elisabeth was fascinating - as was her castle. The bones in the building and the crooked steeple where the architech hung himself for shoddy work were image filling. The artist who protrayed the prince as an ape on the relief on the Rathaus was amusing. We finished it up with Gellato and water before heading back to the hostel. Then off to bed.

Monday was also eventful. The students whose knees where up to it, walked back up to the castle. Do you know that the castle is the only thing closed on Monday, but it was a spectacular view. Jonathan was not feeling well, so we put him to bed for the rest of the day. We think it was his 6 bowls of cereal in the morning and then a hike in the sun. (He is feeling much better now and ate dinner without incident.) After lunch, we went to see St. Elisabeth's Cathedral. What a splendid piece of architecture. We saw Hindenburg's tomb and Wilhelm the 2nd's crypt. The requiem was something to gaze upon and we did. Ask the kids about what happened to the cathedral during the Reformation - they learned history today! After this, we drove to the Schloss Rauischolzhausen in a nearbye city. We walked the surrounding park and spotted the statues that were placed there. It was a type of treasure hunt. Roselyn discovered Faery Circles. She was cute. Amanda remembered her dislike of flying insects. I realized she had this "dislike" when she tried to hide from them inside of my braids. :-)

Then back to the hostel for dinner and to discuss the plans for the rest of our trip. Afterwards, several went and picked up snacks for the bus ride tomorrow. It is supposed to be 5 hours long. Now they are all repacking their bags and, hopefully, preparing for bed.

See you in 11 days.

Frau
