We headed to breakfast at the Anaco Bay Inn. Breakfast is held in the conference room. Its almost like eating at home, in that you eat off of real dishes (versus paper) and there are signs asking you to put your dishes in the dishwasher (located in the room) when finished. It was a pretty standard continental breakfast fare including cereal, fruit, toast, bagels, english muffins, and yogurt. There were a few newspapers floating around the room as well as a large TV with the news on to entertain you while you ate.

After breakfast we got packed up and headed out. We had time before the ferry, so we drove up to the Cap Sante Lookout. From here, there was a nice view of Anacortes, the mountains, and the islands. Jeff managed to trip on a rock, but his fall was broken by a rose bush. If it hadn't been for the stickers, he would have emerged unscathed. Its usually my job to be a klutz! We enjoyed the view and then headed to the ferry.
Upon reaching the ferry, we discovered that the lines weren't very long, which we were expecting, but also that it is cheaper to go out Sun-Tues. We hadn't realized this before. Its always a nice surprise when something costs less than you were expecting. After parking our car, we wandered around while waiting for the ferry to arrive. Unlike some other people, we headed back to our car after the ferry got there. There was another car who's owners were purchasing food when it was their turn to be loading. I am assuming since there weren't a whole lot of cars to put on the ferry, that the ferry workers decided to be nice to them and waited for them to make it to their car before continuing to load. Since the ferry stops at multiple islands, loading is an intricate process.

We headed upstairs and found seats inside, where it was warm, to check out the scenery while we sailed across. Our first stop was Lopez island, then Shaw island. Finally we got to Orcas. Shaw and Orcas are not far from each other in distance, but it takes the ferry a bit of maneuvering to turn itself around then it leaves Shaw to pull into Orcas the correct direction.
It was to early when we arrived to head to the bed and breakfast, plus we were hungry, so we set out to find food. We went to Eastsound and discovered that there aren't a whole lot of things open on Sunday. After wandering for a bit, we wound up at the Tavern, which advertised the best burgers on the island. Jeff did make the observation that they might be the only burgers on the island. Although the burgers looked good, we were tempted by the seafood and shared a basket of fish and chips and a basket of shrimp. They food was excellent!
After finishing the wonderful meal, we headed for the bed and breakfast, The Place at Cayou Cove. We were using TomTom to navigate and it was a bit interesting. Although all the roads appeared to be in TomTom, most of them had different names. We usually verify that we are turning at the correct place, by looking at street signs, but it wasn't that helpful here. TomTom did give us a nice warning about when to turn and we verified that we were at the right place with the hotel directions. We arrived a bit early to check in (at 3pm, check in is at 4) and we hung out with the friendly dogs until the proprietor was ready for us.
She took us to our charming cabin (complete with its own hot tub) and gave us an overview of where everything was. She also gave us some dinner suggestions. We brought in our bags, lit the prepared fire, and settled in to relax for a while.
Eventually we did get hungry again and drove back to Eastsound to a very good Mexican restaurant. We discovered while driving that they don't believe in street lights on the island, so its a very dark drive! After a wonderful meal, we made it back to our cabin and after restarting the fire, relaxed in the hot tub under the stars. I was worried that it would be to cold when I got out of the hot tube, but i got nice and warm and the dash back inside wasn't bad at all! After a heavenly shower, we crawled into the amazing bed for a good night's sleep
