Santa Monica Boardwalk

We were finally in California after more than 12 hours of travelling (if you count the bus ride to Buffalo and clearing customs) and had rented a car. Now what ?

As we left the Enterprise Car rental facility, we drove for about 200 metres and parked at a Denny's. We needed a plan. Over some chicken soup and questioning the waitress about where the nearest beaches were, we decided to hit the road again since we planned to be in San Diego by night time. The GPS told me that one of the nearest attractions was Santa Monica beach boardwalk.

The GPS told me that one of the nearest attractions was Santa Monica beach boardwalk

The boardwalk was nice, even though the beach was quite empty apart from a few joggers and rollerbladers. I succumbed to a street artists drawing names using some kind of water colour artistically using animal figures and such. Walked around the beach and the boardwalk a bit, bought some postcards, took some pictures and decided that was it.

Overall, the boardwalk is a nice place for families and friends, but when its warmer. Nothing extra-ordinary either, very similar to the one in Santa Cruz (which was bigger with more stuff to do and a pretty big amusement park), so if you've already been to one of these, I recommend you skip Santa Monica.
