Florence, what a beautiful city. The winding streets, the art, and my god the gelati! We spent our days walking the streets of Florence drinking coffee at the bars and enjoying the city. The museums are world renowned and therefor very crowded and expensive. We choose to wake up early and get to the Uffizi museum before it opened, in order to avoid the two plus hour wait we had found the day before. We paid the $15 to get in and found the old and amazing art that attracts so many. The Uffizi is one of the oldest museum in the world, housing the Medici family collection, given to the city in 1743 on the condition that it never leave the city. Many of Leonardo de Vinci and Michelangelo's famous pieces are held here. The rooms in there own right are amazing and worthy of the wait and price.

Unfortunately the very touristy areas grew old and we found ourselves wandering in and out of antique shops and many book stores to pass the time. We enjoyed Florence but where ready to head on down to our two week residence in Rome and have a home cooked meal.
