As Hanoi is fairly close to Halong bay we decided to go on a trip there. Its basically a beautiful bay with about 2000 limestone islands which rise sharply out of the water. Its a really spectacular place as you can see in the pictures. We went on a boat cruise around the islands where we saw a floating village and we also visited a cave there.
We met a really nice older Australia couple who were very funny, the lady was making me and Ronan stand at the the front of the boat and pretend like we were we in Titanic while taking pics, it was hilarious! We stayed on one of the islands for a night (Cat ba) before returning to Hanoi.
Its a really spectacular place
