Road trip to the wilds of Sydney
From Hobbits, Sheep, and some fuzzy green fruit... in Blue Mountains National Park, Australia on Mar 07 '07

Today we took a bus tour to the Blue Mountains, a national park just an hour or so west of Sydney. (Australia in general is pretty flat, except for these mountains which form part of the country’s Great Dividing Range.) En route we stopped at Sydney Olympic Park, site of the 2000 Summer Olympics. Frankly, since we weren’t there to watch a sports game or concert, or to tour the facilities, there wasn’t a whole lot to see. Basically just a stop so that the tour operators can say they are giving you more value for your money, and so that we could check off another site having seen – check! :)

Much more interesting were the wild KANGAROOS we saw in Euroka!! Absolutely thrilling since there were no roos at the wildlife center a couple days ago. And they did jump around for us – the complete Aussie experience :)
Finally someone else is doing the driving
We went on several walks in the Blue Mountains area, to view the Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls, and Wentworth Falls. Very relaxing. Seems we just can’t stay away from the nature stuff too long…
We arrived back in Sydney later in the evening and couldn’t help ourselves – we had to visit the awesome Chinatown food court again for dinner. We emerged from the underground court afterwards and were surprised to find a torrential downpour in progress – and we thought this was supposed to be drought country! But no complaints; after all, this is the real rain we’ve experienced since arriving down under nearly a month ago. As long as it stops by tomorrow for our last day of sightseeing!
Cheers,
Ryan and Sara
