If you were reading “cliff notes” our day would sound like this – left Paris on bus è arrived on River Boat. You would miss the entire experience of the day. I believe that timing is everything – and this is exactly the right time in our lives to be enjoying the wine country of France.
As you can see in pic 002 we were a little tired after our late night at the Moulin Rouge, so we took a little nap on the bus. We are headed to Beaune which is the heart of the Burgundy wine country. The country side is fabulous and we see many chateaus along the way. Once in the town of Beaune we quickly discover that every other store is either a wine, pastry or cheese shop – we think we’re in heaven. We had a quick lunch at a café – we had quiche lorraine – then it was off to the pastry shop for desert. The town is very quaint. We found a store where we could buy wine by the glass – Steve had a white burgundy & Sally had a more robust red wine. We agreed that we should buy a bottle of the white! Then it was off to the cheese shop and of course we had to pick up a baguette.

We arrived at the river boat and were very pleased to see how large our cabin was …. And we have two port holes to see outside.
Then off to the local French village – our guide took us to a very petite wine shop – where we were hosted by the owner to have a wine tasteing in his cellar- his name was “Piccalo” (see pic 015) – of course we had to purchase another bottle of this wine – it too was very good.
Then we walked back to the boat for dinner – this too exceeded our expectations – we had a 4 or 5 course meal with wine – I had to take a picture of the beef bourgoune (pic 018) to make your mouth water! FYI – pic 20 is of our desert – crepe suzette – I had already started to eat … then I thought I needed to take a pic.
