Nigh the end of the world...

We managed to cross the borders between Chile and Argentina twice to get to Ushuaia, officially the most southernmost city in the world. The result is that Cathal has now just got 3 blank pages in his passport. Gulp.
We also crossed the Straits of Magellan, which we were very excited about. We are a bit geeky though.
Ushuaia sits right on the Beagle Channel and there are a few frozen hunks of rock and ice, Cape Horn which is an island, and then Antartica. You can get to Antartica relatively cheaply from here, but in December. It´s actually too icy for the icebreakers at this time of year apparently.

Still we found a nice hostel and proceeded to chill out. Figuratively and literally, it´s very cold down here. There´s lots to do here, hiking in Tierra Del Fuego National Park, snowboarding, horseriding, dog sledding, cruises etc. We didn´t do anything except go to the prison museum, a sort of Argentinian Australia for convicts they wanted out of they way. Cathal was spectacularly unmotivated much to my annoyance. We mainly spent our time uploading photos which I´ll soon share with you lucky people.

We leave on a 5.30am bus for Puerto Natales, Chile. Oh yes our third exit stamps for Argentina.
