Milan - In transit

Hi Everyone,

After the North Sea Jazz Festival finished our friend Robin drove us to Schipol Airport in Amsterdam so we could catch our flight here. For those of you who can't pack lightly, heed this warning; don't fly Easyjet!!!!

Thunderstorms and low temperatures in the Netherlands, floods in the UK, Heatwaves in Southern Europe - Whats going on!?!

As a Budget airline overall they are O.K. - pretty disorganised but you get what you pay for really. When we finally got through the queue at check in our bags combined were 15kg overweight so we had to pay 135 euros extra. Sigh..oh well. After we got over that little shock our flight was delayed by an hour or so, we got into Milan a little later than expected. BUT - we were the lucky ones!! Just after we left Schipol all the planes were grounded there because of a huge thunderstorm, so we're not going to complain too much.

We didn't see a whole lot of Milan as we were only ever planning to stop over there on the way to Venice. The hotel we stayed at was quite nice, run by a friendly Italian family. Italian TV is very interesting.. highly sexualised. Michael had seen it before so he wasn't surprised but I was. Also most English and American shows are overdubbed in Italian, like in Belgium and Germany with their respective languages. Italy is HOT!!! But we had air conditioning - not so good for the planet I know, but it was necessary to get a good sleep in 38 degree heat. We had a lovely breakfast in the courtyard garden with Lido, the hotel's puppy. Hopefully Venice will be a little more comfortable in temperature because of the water.. we'll see!

Love to everyone back home, we'll write some more soon. No photos of our own in Milan as we were too busy moving around lots, will upload others soon though.
