Aix En Provence & Nice
From Our Grand European Vacation 2007 in Nice, France on May 10 '07
Today we said farewell to the Provence ship...our home for the past 7 days. What a time we had!
Aix En Provence is a rather cosmopolitan city compared to our last few stops. Most of us spent the time window “licking” as the French would say. We has a typical light lunch in a outdoor café.
On our way to Nice we stopped at the American Cemetery where 271 American soliders and sailors are buried. They fought here as part of the southern flanking operaton in support of the entire D-Day operation.
From Aix we continued on to Nice where we arrived at nearly 5:30 p.m. The beaches are rocky but the water is a stunning azure blue. Not much time but to find a lovely restaurant, Baie d’Amalfie. It was great and so many of our new friends ended up there, too.
Tomorrow, Saturday, we are on our own…off to Lucca, Italy!
Au Revoir, France!
