I went to Nepal with my JC teacher and her friends. We went for a 2 day trek to Nagarkot. It was a nice and relaxing trek and there wasn’t much uphill climb. However, we were still slow and by the time we reached the teahouse, it was quite late. The trek was isolated and clouds were floating past the trek. Nice. The next day, we continued with our trek to Nagarkot. I could see that the guide was very worried as we were quite behind time. Around midday, we reached a small village. As my teacher's friend is quite tired, she asked the guide to call for a company jeep to fetch us to our destination. I forgot how much she paid. We waited for quite some time for the jeep to come and during the wait, we had tea and played with the children. I took pictures of the children with my digital camera and showed them the pictures. I think they were a bit fascinated. Finally the jeep came and the ride to the hotel was quite rough. It was very late when we reached the hotel. Next morning, we watched the sunrise from our hotel room. Somehow, I have not managed to see a very beautiful sunrise. I tried watching the sun rise when I was in Taiwan and Mt Kinabalu and I think it was always cloudy. Hopefully one day, I would be able to see a very beautiful sunrise J

We went to the Chitwan National Park. The place we stayed at was quite empty so we got to talk to the manager. It's very funny when Xiao Lao Shi tried to teach the cook how to fry eggs with tomatoes. The cook really cooked the dish and it was quite tasty. We also went for an elephant-back safari. The elephant driver allowed me to sit right in front on the elephant's head. We also went for a jungle walk and a boat ride. The guide told us what we should do should we see a leopard or tiger before we went for the jungle walk. While we were in the canoe, we saw a Ganges gavial in the river. We also went for a rafting trip. It was my second rafting trip and I would say it's not as professional as the one in New Zealand but it was still all right.

Overall, Nepal trip is nice because the Nepalese are really very friendly. It's fun shopping in Nepal and one can really haggle over the prices but I am really no good at bargaining. I don't know the fair price to pay and I am embarrassed to quote a very low price. As such, I always wait for others to bargain and when the price is low enough, then I will buy. Sigh… I still don't know how to bargain.
