Stung Treng

The next day we took a minibus to Stung Treng, a tiny village just before the border with Laos. It took an hour to finally get going as apparently the bus does not leave until it is full. And full it was (as usual), including two passengers on the roof as well as 15 cases of beer.
We got to Stung Treng after 3 hrs and got on a fast boat to the border, which took 45 minutes and was quite an adventure.
The border crossing consisted of a wooden hut with an official, who insisted on us paying $1 each, otherwise he would not stamp our passports.

From there we walked 20 mins to the Laos border, where the same thing happened (but this time we got away with paying $1 for the both of us).
See our Laos journal for further adventures!
