SF is great! What a beautiful city! We had an awesome time!

We arrived on Saturday night, a few hours late - not our fault, and were picked up by our host for the week. Geoff worked with Daryl at Deloitte in Jhb and he has pretty much been working here since.

On Sunday Geoff took us all around San Francisco. We saw all the hot tourism spots, as well as some hidden gems. This was the best way to see San Fran with our own personal tour guide. Highlights included: Golden Gate Bridge, The Bay Bridge, Marin Headlands, the Haight district, the Castro district (infamous for rainbow-coloured flags), Lombard street (the winding road that sees some 700,000 cars a year travel at 5 mph to get down it), Golden Gate National Park, etc.

On Monday we hit downtown and stopped in at the SF Museum of Modern Art. The highlight for Nicki was the Tiffany & Co. store though - thanks De Beers for the Diamond Invention, as well as Macy's. I have never seen so many shoes in all my life!! At the Museum we saw the works of many famous artists such as: Picasso, Salvador Dali, Jackson Pollock, Henry Matisse, Piet Mondrian, Roy Lichtenburg etc. We also saw Union Square. That night went and saw musician Emily Haines at The Great American Music Hall and ended up in a dodgy pub called Hemlock.

Tuesday saw us head to The Rock. It was pretty surreal being on the infamous prison (which actually started out as an army base) and it was great learning about the history: prisoners, guards, escape attempts, the Indians, etc. Now we can cross that sight-to-see off the list.

That's San Fran in a nutshell!! Enjoy the pictures!!
