OKTOBERFEST!!!
From Steve, Ken, and Darren's eurotrip! in Munich, Germany on Sep 28 '06
Weeellllll, this entry isnt so much an independant entry but an add on to the Salzburg entry as we only took a day trip to munich for oktoberfest and never got to see anything other then oktoberfest. For those of you who dont really know what oktoberfest is, well , quite simply its awesome. The three week party is set downtown munich in a massive park that has been transformed into massive festival grounds with huge rollercosters , games, rides etc etc everything you an think of. Of course lets not forget the 9? beer tents that grace the grounds and hold upwards of 2 thousand each. Step into one and experience a different world, where differences tend to get put aside to make room for the mugs of beer cuz these aint no normal beer, there HUGE. Seriously though, this was probably the friednliest place ive been, with everyone from 8 to 80 from every country you can think of in a great mood and ready to sing or cheer to the band playing as they down their litres of beer. Ahhh, the beer, i dont even knwo what kind of beer it was but it tasted great anyways, you buy them by the liter for 7.40€ which may be a touch expenesive but at home thats the same as three beer. Im not really sure whos the wise-guy who thought it would be funny to combine beer and looping rollercosters but we decided to steer clear of them in case it started to rain vomit. One last thing, the people you see who have gotten those huge goofy looking oktoberfest hats, have most likly been in the beer tents for a while. In any case, if your in Germany during oktoberfest you simply must go at least for a few hours and experience the largest and best beer festival in the world!
For those of you who dont really know what oktoberfest is, well , quite simply its awesome.
