Mr. F and I arrived in LA in the evening.

Our plan was to head straight to Hotel Cecil - which had mixed reviews - to sleep for the night, wake up early and drive to Las Vegas for the surprise 90th birthday party.

Mr. F and I aren't picky about where we stay. We enjoy hostels the most. We've been known to sleep in the back of the U-Haul we were driving cross country, parked for the night in a National park or forest.

We talk about camping, but I believe those days might be over for both of us.

We headed to Hotel Cecil, which is in downtown LA.

The hotel has been working very hard to change it's image and the community surrounding it may be doing the same. However, Hotel Cecil is ahead of it's community in transformation.

There's no parking for the hotel, which meant we had to park the rental car on the street. I was not comfortable with this idea, thinking we would arrive to it the next morning with no hub caps if not there at all.

Mr. F suggested we cancel our hotel reservations and drive straight to Las Vegas.

We found a great little restaurant, Blossom, had a solid meal, and left town.
