This place is a mini Grand Canyon and definatey not a place to go when you're drunk.  The depth exceeds the width in some spots and helps you overcome the fear of heights in a big hurry.  We were originally going to camp a night or two, but decided not to with the "group camp" atmosphere.  It was warm, and we were dirty...I didn't really feel like getting to know your neighbor at the National Park camp.  Still a neat place to see.  We did a "Plan B" move and decided to hit Ouray, a place recommended to us by a local.
