This place was awesome...really Carribean feeling and everyone spoke english...which was a nice change from spanish and gave us a bit of a break from learning a new language. The people were really friendly and we scored the best little beach cabin owned by a sweet elderly couple... only $14 US/n for a double/private bath and a good bbq area...stoked!
Our dive school was 2min down the road and the carribean ocean only 5min..Our Padi dive cert. took us 4days and we were doing it with another couple from Canada...they were really nice. It was pretty tiring and we did 2dives/day... we both LOVED it tho, the water was really clear and we got to see heaps of nurse sharks/snapper/john dorys and a spotted Moray eel...was cool, but not as colourful as we expected. We got certified on New Years Eve...and we ended up spending our new years fishing and enjoying a few rum and cokes...was pretty fun...we met a local couple and they took us around in there golf cart to different spots on the island...Me and Jamie were catching heaps of fish (Jamie got a really big snapper...sorry no photo..but it was BIG..its probably gotten bigger now too ;-) ) Was funny cos Jamie was snagging any and everything..he caught the jetty a couple of times and dropped his hand line in the ocean...we were all laughing then he pulls in this big fish!!! A good night :-)

On New years day we just chilled out...couldnt find the cake lady tho...bummer! She was a local lady who had a trolley full of fresh baked goodies...our favourtie was her coconut cake...YUM!! and then it was time to move on...Next stop Placencia in Belize... (was ok, def. not as nice as Caye Caulker and more exy) had a couple of days there, then onto Hondurus (by boat).......
