Herisau

This was the town I first lived in when I moved to Switzerland.  It was close to St. Gallen which was the nearest major city and about 40 minutes outside Zurich.  A smaller city and it very much had that Swiss flavor to it.  Just outside of town you could drive miles through green pastures and farmland, overall very beautiful.  We were within 30 minutes of the German border and about 20 minutes form Austria which allowed us to visit both countries, sometimes on just a random sunday roadtrip.  The winters were cold but fairly mild compared to the next town I would live in.  Overall I think we spent about a 1 1/2 to 2 years in Herisau before my step-dad (a Swiss professional hockey player) was signed by another team forcing us to move.
