As we flew over the orange tiled roof tops in downtown San Diego I knew we were going to a special place. It was our first trip to California and a much needed vacation.
Finally we were on the ground. The connection in Dallas was a joke! Anyway, we grabbed our bags and threw them in the car. Joe ripped through the city streets like a fireman responding to a call. We cornered hard, sped down straight aways and seemingly got a little airborne over the hills-then we got on the freeway! The first impressions of this beautiful place were framed in the side window like a film strip. I had never seen such exotic plants and terrain like this before.
This trip was all about the food and staying on the go!

It was a "good" hot during the day and a cool 55 degrees at night and it never rained. This trip was all about the food and staying on the go! We partied at night in the Gaslamp District. During our stay we had breakfast in La Jolla, visited the seals and searched tide pools on the rocks beneath the bluffs of beautiful homes and condos above. We played golf on Coronado Island and another course on the mainland. We had "real" Chinese food and toured the Naval base. We watched the Padres and the Cards at old Jack Murphy (Qualcomm) Stadium and feasted on fish tacos and the best Mexican food I've ever eaten in Old Town. We toured Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo.

San Diego and the surrounding area is a very nice place to visit.
