On the long bus ride my seat was broken and wouldnt recline so i didnt get too much sleep, but i did get to meet some really cool and nice people.  Florianopolis is really cool, it definitely has the isalnd feel.  It is very relaxed and we just walk the streets at any hour and pick up food at the market.  The hostel is not very clean and i am camping, but everyone there is really nice and it is very relaxed.  There is a waterfall that is about a 30 min walk and we went there everyday.  One of the nights we went into town to go out.  The bar was a rock cover band that played american music with some portuguese influence.  We didnt know that the van wasnt going to pick us up until 4 45 so it made for a late night and the tent was blazing hot in the morning, so it was impossible to sleep in.  The next day was new years eve.  that day we hiked to this small village on the other side of the beach.  the only way to get there is to hike up and over this mountain kind of thing.  we hung out there and swam for a little bit.  for new years we hung out at the hostel and then went down to the beach where there were a bunch of people with a stage with music set up.  at new years we jumped over seven waves, each one signifying good luck for something different in the next year.  it was really neat to see new years from a different perspective.  it was quite a celebration (and u r supposed to wear white too).  the next day we hiked to the waterfall again and went into the city for dinner.  we left the next morning.

The clouds and rain came in the last night, just in time for me to have to pack up my tent

Brasil was really neat to see, but i was ready to get out of there.  it was really hot and had a lot of bugs and we all had a ton of bites.  the language barrier makes everything very difficult as well.  But Argentina will be cooler and easier to get around.
