We docked at the new port of Kerkyra on the island of Corfu at 8 a.m. this morning and by nine we were off the ship and heading towards the 4x4s that were waiting for us.
We had a beautiful drive over the island on roads the were "off the beaten path" (in other words, bumpy, dirt roads with beautiful views), over the highest points of the island and back down to some incredibly beautiful beaches. We stopped for a snack at Taverna Castellino at Lakones, Corfu which is near the highest point on the island.
....4x4s were waiting for us.

Next we stopped at the beach at Paleokastritia - Wow, very pretty!
Then we returned to port and immediately caught a taxi with another couple from our ship to the old town area. The first thing we did was find an internet cafe in which luckily we could upload several days of journal online. As we wandered the charming area in old town with some cute shops, I found a nice table runner which I bought.
As we walked through the old town area, we couldn't help noticing a continuous sound of swallows flying overhead and chirping. The last thing we did before heading back to the ship was to check out the old fort at the edge of town.....

Once back to the ship, we grabbed some snacks that were being served on deck at the Tropical Bar (as if we needed more) as our ship left port. We were strutting our stuff with full sails out! Beautiful! Shortly afterward, at six o'clock we met for another talk by Erla Zwingle entitled "Dalmation Tears".
Tomorrow, the new country (as of June 3, 2006) of Montenegro.
