Today Sean, Michael and I went to the Shiloh Military Park. It was really fascinating visiting this expansive park. It was the site of a a couple of civil war battles. One the confederates (south) won, the other the union (north) won. Two future US presidents also faught here, that being Jefferson and Garfield. Many. many men lost their lives here and their is a large cemetary here. Many of the confederate soldiers are buried here in mass graves as the south was too poor (after the dramitac increase in farm labor costs) after the war to exhume the bodies for proper burial. The north exhumed their bodies only shortly after the war.

I would have loved to have seen some live reenactments myself. I heard that they are really fun to watch. I just finished reading an amazing Civil War novel, by David H Jones. It's called "Two Brothers," and the detail in this book had me envisioning the incredible scenes in the story, but to top off my experience, I'd love to see some of the sites where our history took place.
