Born at Kapiolani Medical Center in Honolulu, like my son.  As much as I have a spot in my heart for Hawaii... I can't imagine going back to live there again.

It is a beautiful place, as far as the eye can see... don't get me wrong in that aspect.  There's no doubt in my mind Hawaii has the best beaches in the world.  Hawaii food is the only kind I miss when I'm away from it.  Some of my best friends are still living there.  And if it were convenient (and cheap), I'd visit Hawaii over and over again... there lies part of the issue.

still a great place to visit...

Visiting Hawaii isn't very practical economically, for me at least.  Especially since I've already seen and experienced much of what Hawaii offers in my childhood and initial working years.

The reasons why I wouldn't want to return to live there: cost of living, typical salary, rush hour traffic, not used to the tropical weather anymore, and lack of economical travel options when going outside the state.

For the tourists, Hawaii has a lot to offer.  The tropical weather.  The beaches.  Immense number of ocean-based activities like scuba, cruises, whale watching, etc.  Unique mix of cultures, including the Hawaiian culture.  Food you won't find anywhere else in the US, much less the world.  And once you've saturated yourself with Oahu, there are a few other islands you could explore.

But not me... I still love the place, I'm sure I haven't had my last visit to Hawaii, but for the most part I've had my fill.
