This is typical classroom dress - no shoes! All the students leave their shoes at the door so they don't track in the dirt from the outside - lots of pollution here!!

Well, the first day of school has come and gone. I feel like it went pretty well. I liked the kids, and they seem to like me too, though I'm not sure all of them really knew that the old TA wasn't coming back. Anyway, science wasn't too difficult (contrary to my fears beforehand!), composition went well, art was fun, Bible was fun (mostly sharing from Christmas vacation). Overall it was a great first day, and I think I'm really going to enjoy the teaching position. But I am tired!!

Tonight I went with one of the families to see "The Chronicles of Narnia." It was a great movie! We ate at a Vietnamese restaurant called Vietnamese Kitchen in One Utama, the big mall nearby. I had some kind of lemon chicken and rice and also shared some rice pancakes (yum!) with one of the kids. The kids are pretty cool kids. One is my student, and the other is her brother. He's incredibly brave with what he eats; apparently he occasionally chooses things off the menu that he's never heard of...just to try something new! I'm not sure I'll ever be that brave...

That's all for now. I'm totally exhausted and could use 8 hours of sleep!
