Got into Union station late thursday night... got picked up by Allison and headed straight to her house in Virginia.
Headed back into DC the next morning insanely early for a White House tour... really cool but a little bit brief. Unfortunately couldnt go to the higher levels because George was in.
at least 6 snipers
We left the White House in the direction of the Washington Monument- just as we did the presidential helicopters arrived to pick up people from the whitehouse... could see at least 6 snipers on surrounding roofs who all left straight after the helicopter so can only assume it was george w.

Went up the washington monument which was good- clearer day than when we went up the Empire State so we could see for miles... fantastic view down the reflecting pool.
Then onto the lincoln memorial... actually much cooler than we imagined and the reflecting pool looked amazing. It was about 32° out so it would have been nice to go for a paddle, but apparently that would have been 'disrespectful' and there were still a worrying amount of people with machine guns about. If they'd taken it as an aggresive move, that could well have been the end of the trip.
