We got off to a bit of a late start today, but it doesn't matter since the sun doesn't set until around 10:00pm. First, we went ot The Place de la Concorde which has a monument resembling the Washington Monument in D.C. as well as a ferris wheel which gives a spectacular arial view of the surrounding area, which includes the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triumph, The Lourve, etc. Then, we went ot the Hotel of the Invalides which was a hospital built to rehabilitate those who were injured in war. It also houses the Tomb of Napoleon and a war museum commemorating WWII as well as earlier battles.

Next, we headed toward the Eiffel Tower which as you know is a huge metal structure in the middle of Paris. It's really quite impressive. We went up to only the second level, as the third is under renovation. What an amazing view from there. It was really what reminded me of a typical European city, with all the 14th-18th century architecture, fountains, parks and narrow streets lined with houses, businesses and apartment buildings.

After that, went to the Palais de Chaillot which houses several museums, such as Marine Life, Human Hisrory and Cinema. We walked around the grounds for a while, then headed for the Arc de Triumph and the Avenue des Champs Elysees. Absolutely awesome. We walked for some time and eventually made our way back to the hotel, then stayed in after another exhausting day and played cribbage until 1am.
