Cameron - so glad we made it!
From Round the world in 365 days in Cameron, United States on Sep 06 '06
After a few hours of driving through the desert in the Novaja Reservation, we began to run a bit low on fuel. We began to worry when we realised that we´d not really passed anything except jewellery stalls and Native Indian stalls for the best part of 100 miles. Eventually we were relieved to come across a petrol station, only to find that they were closed because they were out of petrol! At this stage we had already turned off the air con, and had slowed down to about 55 in order to conserve the remaining fuel, and it was getting pretty hairy. This could definitely be the setting for the sequel to my first horror movie (not sure if I included that in my Canada blog). Finally we saw a sign for Cameron, the next town, and we made it!
We had food in the only restaurant there (if you ever make it to there, opt for the stew, not the hot gravy sandwiches).
We bought some supplies for the hike, and headed off again.
