Cesky Krumlov? Where's that?

So, Prague was ok, but I can't say I loved it, so I was very pleasantly surprised when I completely fell for the next town on my itinerary, Cesky Krumlov. It is a teeny town in south Czech Republic, and I knew nothing about it besides that it was supposed to be real cute. I took a bus up there, and well, it was real cute! You can walk from one far outskirt of the town to the other in about 10 minutes, even on the uneven cobblestone streets in the rain (which were the conditions the whole time I was there). My hostel was lovely...I had my own room for 10 dollars a night, and the first night I shared the hostel with a whole bunch of Canadian high school kids on a school trip, but after that I was literally the only person there!! I got really spoiled--no bathroom lines, free internet, nice little kitchen with free coffee and tea...plus, anywhere I was in town, if I wanted an extra jacket or to go to the bathroom or whatever, it was only a 5 minute back to the hostel!

There wasn't really that much to see in the town (how could there be in a space that size?) but I had a really nice time wandering around and reading and attempting to watercolor paint. (attempting is the key word here).
The other thing that made this town so fun was that I met up with some people I'd met in Prague. Ross, Aaron, and Luke are 19 year old British boys, and I hung out with them a good amount. British guys are an endless source of amusement...what American guy would ever, EVER voluntarily put Britney Spears "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" on the jukebox?? ("Bugger mates, it's a right nice song!") I had lots and lots of fun making fun of them and learning funny British expressions, though they kept insisting that I was the one who had it wrong ("Why do you think they call it ENGLISH, love?"). We went bowling (yes, there was a bowling alley in this tiny town--underground, cuz it would've taken up half the town otherwise), played board games, made dinner at my empty hostel...it was a really good time.

It's amazing really, how much hanging out with good people can improve a situation! I was realizing the other day that, although it's nice that I'm traveling in the off-season, so not everything is swarming with tourists, it's also going to make it much harder to meet people. If there literally aren't people at my hostels, it's a lot more difficult to make friends!
So, Cesky Krumlov was really lovely, like if you took the picture off the front of a Christmas card...but I have to move on! So next it's on to Vienna.

I promise there will be pictures on here eventually! I'm just scared of hooking my camera up to most of these computers--they look like they're from the early 80s! I just don't want all my pictures erased or something. As soon as I get to a good one though, I'll make these entries pretty!
Thanks for all your comments, emails, etc. Much love to you all, more soon!
