San Gusme has a population of approximatly 450 people. 200 within the city wall and 250 outside. It is located approximatly 30 minutes north-east of Siena. Inside the wall is just like a ancient town. Everything is built from stone and brick, the walls are very thick, causing the windows to all have at least 12" window sills. In all of the buildings I've been in so far you can see the beams in the ceiling however the walls are plaster. Walking around the town you can see a lot of times where buildings have been added onto or repaired because the walls are not all the same. I think that this makes it even nicer then if everything was the same. I just adds so much character to see a building with several different styles of brick/stone work. Surrounding the town are vineyards, olive fields and mountains. There are several great walks that I've found to take in the afternoons or evenings.

The people in San Gusme are really friendly and I am enjoying recognizing some familer faces. There are also a few people who speak a little bit of English and we are trying to coordinate our schedules so that we can get together and practice our English and Italian.

A very interesting review, on one of the few places I haven't visited in Italy, during my 4 trips there. Thanks!
