Started my language course on the first monday in July.... & felt like I was back at school again ! We had a tour of the town of Heredia & were then graded into our classes ! Was put into the second from bottom class......level 2, which I actually think was a mistake...but just because I could say that " I had 3 brothers & lived in Berkhamsted"....... they obviously thought I was fairly fluent !! In bullshit maybe !

Anyway........the first week was pretty tough but I was putting in the hours at home too.......Oh my god...I had Homework !!! I was also living with a "host" family who were lovely but spoke NO English at all ! Hard work & very tiring at first but by the end of week 1 I was at least able to say goodmorning & can I have some more toilet paper please !!!!!!!

My "host mum" Emilia & her sister Ana lived in the main house with me and Uncle Franklin & Emilias' son Oscar, lived in a granny flat at the back of the house. It was very interesting seeing how the family unit worked out here....it wasn't uncommon for you to have 3 generations living together. This would have been the case with my "family" but granny died a few months back! There wre all very nice & made me fell very welcome & "at home".

At school...it was different. Basically, most of the other students were very young so tended to be very "Clicky" in their groups, however I did meet a few lovely people & had a great time travelling at weekends with this Canadian woman, Sasha. She was 40yrs & we did some exploring together of the Pacific Coast & Manuel Antonio National Park, Tortuguero National Park & Monteverde where I met some really great people travelling & ended up having a lot of fun !

Each week on Fridays we had an exam & then at the end of our last week, we had "graduation!".....yep I even got a certificate for my efforts !!

All in all....it was a fab school & my teacher (for 3 out of the 4 weeks) Erika, was EXCELLENT. She was a very sweet Tica & had utmost patience with me & my AWFUL accent ! We also had a good laf in the lessons...which made the learning part fun !

So...........now I've done one course...I shall go & put what I've learnt into practice...or at least...attempt to !!

Hast Luego Chicos ! xx
