Waking up after a wonderful nights sleep in our ne apartment, we showered and got ready to go out, before heading off to 'Mama's' for breakfast. We had decided that the day would mostly be spent cruising around the city to get a good sense of our bearings and also to see all the sights that this city has to offer.

We hired a tuk-tuk driver to drive around to everywhere while we relaxed in the back seat, under shade and with a breeze blowing through. This is the life!

We hired a tuk-tuk driver to drive around to everywhere while we relaxed in the back seat, under shade and with a breeze blowing through.

We stopped the tuk-tuk driver at Wat Phnom, a temple on top of a hill in the middle of the city. As this was the only sight we wanted to see properly, we spent some time wandering around the gardens and marvelling at the beauty of this old Buddhist monument and temple. The highlight of the day had to be seeing the monkeys who live in the trees and surrounding park areas out having a feed and a play with their fellow primates.

For the rest of our time, we let the driver take us around the other highlights such as the Royal Palace, (the Heart of Corruption!) the National Museum and the Independence Monument, whilst we chilled out, enjoyed our ride and snapped a few shots. The driver also took us over the bridge away from the main heart of the city, where we were able to see that poverty is still rife among the community, although new housing is popping up here too, with large, grand houses intermingling with wooden shacks. We hope these new houses belonged to locals doing well for themselves and being able to pull themselves back up from the country's terrible past. We can but hope.

After returning to the lake area, we headed back to our humble abode to recharge our weary batteries before heading out for a night of drinking and cards. 'The Magic Sponge' holds a weekly poker night which Brett had been eager to join. All in all, it was a drunken night of fun and frolicks and we even managed to make a small profit on the cards. We stumbled home in the early hours of the morning and were soon snoring away in our, much cooler, bedroom.
